Life insurance benificary?

My husband recently found out that his dad got a life insurance policy and named him benificary when he(my husband) was a child... after he married his 2nd wife AKA wicked step-mother. His father passed away in 1999 and his wife was left everything in the will and has no idea about this policy. Is she entitled to this life insurance policy as well??? We would both rather not ,mess with it at all if she will be the one ending up with it
