Do you think that the debt limit should not be raised?

I personally think that if we do not raise it and if the economy goes into a double-dip recession, the Republicans, who have the majority in the House, would get the blame for the bad economy. Because of that, I think the Democrats should not raise the debt limit even though they know raising the debt limit will help continue helping the USA economy get out of the recession. Then, the Republicans will get the blame, Democrats will be able to win in 2012 with a higher chance, and it will show the effects of Republican policy making.The bad side effect would be the drop in the US economy. What do you think?
